
António Pires Santos
Before he led all IBM Portugal business development activities with a special focus on Cognitive Computing, Smarter Cities and Watson, with the objective of creating business opportunities and at the same time, contribute to the development of an Ecosystem with leading and innovative companies that can partner with IBM, on a Global basis.
In this role, he coordinated activities of the different IBM’s brands around Sales and Solutions Business Development, with a special emphasis on giving guidance to a specialized group of highly skilled professionals that are dedicated to Cognitive Solutions.
Previously he lead the activities of IBM for Smarter Cities in Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Israel.
Working with the Utilities Industry since 1993, Antonio was for several years the European Sales and Solutions Leader for Energy & Utilities at IBM and also a member of IBM’s Corporate Intelligent Utility Network initiative, IBM’s portfolio of solutions for the Smart Grid.
He also represented IBM near some European Commission’s bodies for matters related to Energy as well as in other Industry organizations like, EURELECTRIC, ESMIG and DigitalEurope and the Smart Cities Chapter at APDC.
Antonio joined IBM in 1982 from a Government Organization in Portugal and has since assumed roles of increasing responsibility, starting with IT technical roles and later professional and management positions in Sales, Services, and lately in Industry Solutions.
He has a large experience in Sales, Business Development, Strategic Planning, Organizational Capabilities, and Partners relationship management.
Antonio, a Portuguese citizen, has studied Electronic Engineering and has a Master in Business Management and Marketing.
