Engineering Energy Efficiency in Water Systems | Smart Water

Holds a degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro – UTAD. Senior Electrotechnical Engineer and specialist in Sanitary Engineering from The Order of the Engineers. Management of Energetic Consumption in Infrastructures of Water Treatment.

Between 2000 and 2004, he worked as a professor in the courses Eletrotechnical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at UTAD and in the Management Informatics course at Instituto Politécnico de Bragança. He undertook the role as the head of maintenance and technician responsible for the exploration of the electrical facilities at the company Águas de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Águas de Portugal group, SGPS, SA, between 2003 and 2008. As a guest researcher, he collaborated with the Biological Engineering Centre of the University of Minho Bio4E, in the field of Boa Governação (2010-2013). From 2008 to 2018 he was the managing director of the group Espina&Delf and general manager of the company Factor Ambiente.

At the moment, he carries out the position of general director of SCDCI – Cultura, Desenvolvimento e Cooperação Internacional, managing organisation of Centro Internacional de Ensino e Investigação Fernão de Magalhães. He is commissioner of the Euro-Central American Conference in the division of Energy and Water. Member of the Strategy and Government Council of the University of São Tomé e Príncipe, joint supervisor of Bachelor’s degree projects and Master’s theses in Eletrotechnical Engineering from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, member of Colégio de Engenharia Eletrotécnica of the Order of the Engineers of the North Region and founding member of Zoom Global Smart Cities Association.
